About the Artist

Michael Gillette has spent the last 25 years using the energy of Rock’n'Roll to inspire uplifting art.

Born and raised in Swansea, Wales, Michael spent his teens infatuated with art and music.
After studying at Kingston, he graduated to make art for the emerging Britpop scene in London, including video and sleeve work for Elastica and Saint Etienne. The 1990s were spent honing his painting skills, before becoming an early pioneer of digital image making. In 2001, he moved to San Francisco to continue his creative adventure.

His ability to translate the excitement of popular culture in to engaging art has attracted collaborations with some all-time greats including animation projects with The Beastie Boys and My Morning Jacket, through to portrait work for Beck and Paul McCartney and a highly collectable set of James Bond covers for Penguin. His experience is both wide and deep, and his mission is to create joy.

Concurrently, Michael made his own gallery projects, focusing on his ability to make hand crafted art.

2018 will see a solo show "Year of the Dog" which  blends his love of drawing with parallel universes, unity, style tribes, and dogs.

In 2016 his music themed monograph DRAWN IN STEREO was published by AMMO in Los Angeles.
